Description: Sporting considerations, event promotion, marketing rights and new media: no stone was left unturned during a two-day seminar for organisers of next year’s UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.

With four months still to go until the opening round of the 2013 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, organisers spent two days at the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland, this week listening to key speakers and sharing experiences.

“Last year was the first time that we organised this seminar, which will now become an annual event,” explained the UCI BMX Coordinator Ellen Bollansée. “The aim is to get all organisers around the table and encourage the exchange of ideas and information on the sporting and organisational aspects of hosting a World Cup.”

Participants went over their obligations as outlined in the 2013 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Organisation Guide. They discussed the promotion of their events, marketing rights, visual guidelines, and strategies for television coverage and new media. Each organiser also had individual meetings with the UCI to talk about matters specific to their respective events.

The 2013 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will comprise five rounds, beginning in a new venue, Manchester (GBR), on April 19th and 20th, and drawing to a close in Chula Vista (USA) on September 27th and 28th. Also new to the World Cup calendar in 2013 is Santiago de Estero (ARG) which will host the second round on May 10th and 11th.
