The International Cycling Union (UCI) is delighted to announce the extension of its partnership with VSI Products - the official supplier of THE handlebar numbers for the 2010/2011/2012 UCI BMX World Championships, 2010/2011/2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The three-year sponsorship deal continues the excellent collaboration between the UCI and VSI Products that started in 2007. The UCI signed a sponsorship contract with the Californian company the year before the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and as a consequence all the riders at the Games used THE handlebar numbers. Since that time, THE has become the official supplier of handlebar numbers for all races at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup and UCI BMX World Championships: VSI Products supply over 4,000 customised handlebar numbers every year.

According to Johan Lindström, UCI Coordinator of "Gravity" disciplines: "The UCI wants to work with the best suppliers and partners for the UCI BMX World Championships and UCI BMX Supercross World Cup – in other words, the best races on the planet. VSI Products manufacture very high quality products and the UCI is delighted to maintain this partnership."

Furthermore, VSI Products supports the training activities of the World Cycling Centre by providing equipment (THE, ITS, Intense and Vigor brands). These products are used by talented young riders who benefit from the UCI's training programmes. The majority of these riders come from countries where the training facilities are not fully developed. Among the best known of these riders are Sifiso Nhlapo (South Africa), Yvan Lapraz (Switzerland), Emilio Falla (Ecuador) and Fabian Hernandez (Colombia).

"Our partnership with the UCI has been very fruitful and has given the 'THE' brand an excellent profile around the world. We are very pleased to be working with the UCI until at least 2012." Toby Henderson, founding partner at VSI, THE’s parent company.

The 2011 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup starts on 8-9 April in Pietermaritzburg South Africa. The season continues in the Netherlands and Great Britain and the World Championships will be held in Denmark. The Final of the 2011 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, bringing the season to a close, will be held in Chula Vista, California (USA), just 90 miles from the world headquarters of THE.

VSI Products, Inc. design, develop and sell a wide range of products for BMX and mountain biking including complete bikes, frames, forks, components, helmets, protective gear, tyres and other equipment. Their Intense, Sinz and THE brands are leaders in the BMX competition market while the new brands of Speed, EYE and AVE have also become very popular with BMX riders.
